‘Uddersfield.

This morning I received a letter from HuddersfieldI University. I have an interview on the 24th of February and I have the feeling this one is going to be a lot harder than the York Interview. This time around they’ll be looking at my portfolio without me there and the worrier in me is convinced it won’t stand up on it’s own without me there to explain each project. Plus the interview is at 9:30am. I know that doesn’t seem early but I’ll have to travel for an hour and a half to get there at least. Since I only just got to my York interview on time I’ll want to arrive a half hour or so early too. I’m so not looking forwards to this.

The first part of my interview will be made up of a tour of the University Accommodation. My Mum’s insisting she comes to this and is trying to get my Dad to take the day off to come. I’d be thankful to have them with me, and if my Dad comes that means he can drive me rather than me traveling by train but I’m hoping I’m not the only person who’s parents tag along. Imagine what a fantastic first impression that would be to my university classmates, being the kid who brought her parents along. I’ve taken a look at the accommodation online and it looks like a really nice, clean area. Student estates tend to be filth holes. Plus you get your own bathroom! I’m thankful for that since I have a thing about sharing bathrooms. I’d be crossing my legs until I visited home on the weekend otherwise.

I’m still absolute terrified about the whole ordeal but slowly I’m becoming excited too. I’ll get my own room! I’ll get to wear my shoes inside! I’ll get to drink as much juice as I like without asking! Maybe being a grown-up does have its perks after all…

(Also, the web designs page is currently in a stage of constant update. I have seven existing themes to re-code and six more on my hard-drive to complete. Keep checking back!)

  1. Is it testament to how much of a Yorkshire lass I am that I keep writing Uddersfield? []

Ana is being fantastic as usual and selling her wonderful designs for charity! Now’s a great chance to get a beautiful new design and help a good cause.

I’m back! It seems like I’ve written those two words a million times over the past three months, but this time I plan to stay. I’m up to date with the majority of my college work and sorted out a portfolio for my interviews so I have no excuses now.

Like I mentioned in the last entry I had an interview last Thursday. It was for a Graphic Design course at York College. To clarify, here you don’t need to be interviewed for college or university, but if you’re applying for a creative arts type course they obviously want an example of your abilities. I brought along a collection of sketchbooks from class work and some prints of my favourite work. The guy didn’t spend too long looking at my work, in fact the whole thing only lasted fifteen minutes, tour included. It felt like a bit of a waste of time to be honest, especially considering I spent two hours traveling. I got an email on Monday telling me I’ve been offered a conditional place there, so it was worth it in the end. York College is only my backup option since I only need to pass my course at a Pass Level to get in (the equivilant of a C grade I think). I really want to go to Huddersfield University, but it’s nice to have a safety net. I know I’ll have interviews at Huddersfield University and Manchester Metropolitan too soon, I’m just waiting for clarification on the date.

You might have noticed, new layout! I wanted to wait until I could hand draw the title and navigation text but I just got so sick of that last layout. It was up for nearly four months but it felt like longer. The comments still need styling but other than that everything’s finish. What do you think?

I also added 15 new patterns and started reorganising my WordPress themes and premade layouts into one single page. I would write more, but my space bar is semi-broken so typing right now is really difficult. I’m proud I managed to type just this!

(Quick question – am I the only person websites hosted on Webs.Com aren’t working for? I haven’t been able to access them for a while now and I have people to visit!)
